Welcome, Monterey Water Customers

On behalf of New Mexico Water, I would like to welcome you to our family. Today, we closed the transaction to purchase Monterey Water’s water utility assets and provide service to its customers. The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) previously approved the transfer in July.

We are committed to providing high-quality water and excellent service to each customer, every day. We will continue to invest in the local water system infrastructure to ensure it remains reliable for customers’ everyday and emergency needs. Our quality assurance programs ensure the water we provide meets all water quality and environmental standards.

New Mexico Water already provides water and/or wastewater utility services to about 10,700 customer connections in our Rio Communities, Rio Del Oro, Meadow Lake, Indian Hills, Squaw Valley, Elephant Butte, Morningstar, Sandia Knolls, Juan Tomas, and Cypress Gardens systems. Since we began operating in New Mexico in 2002, we have been dedicated to being part of, and supporting, the communities we serve. As your new water provider, we are committed to doing the same for your community, which will become part of our Rio Del Oro system. We plan to host a customer get-to-know-us event in May, in conjunction with Water Awareness Month. Be on the lookout for more details that we’ll send next spring.

We have spent the past several months working with Monterey Water to ensure a seamless transition. Going forward, our New Mexico Water employees—who provide services including meter reading, water quality testing, water and wastewater treatment, water and wastewater system design and construction, and customer service—have the support of about 1,200 team members throughout our parent company’s other utilities if the need ever arises.

Around the end of this month, you will receive your first water bill from New Mexico Water. All bill payments should be sent to New Mexico Water’s remittance address at P.O. Box 245, Elephant Butte, NM 87935, or after you receive your first bill you can create a free, online account for billing and payment options through this web site. Additionally, we are regulated by the NMPRC, which oversees our rates and operations, and your water rates will remain the same for at least one year.

If you need any assistance, you can reach our customer service team at (505) 864-2218 or contact us online. We look forward to serving you.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Apodaca
