Rio del Oro & Tome Vista Subdivisions water system
Las Maravillas, Pasitos del Cielo, Habitat for Humanity and Tome Vista Subdivisions plus schools from elementary through higher education (Desert View Elementary, Manzano View Middle School, Valencia High and the University of NM - Valencia Campus)
General Information
New Mexico Water Service Company purchased the Rio Grande Utility Company in July 2002. Since that time, New Mexico Water Service Company has provided water and sewer service that meets all quality standards. In 2006, water and sewer service was extended to the Tome Vista subdivision. The Rio del Oro water system also supplements the Cypress Gardens water system.
To serve our customers in Rio del Oro and Tome Vista, water is pumped from deep wells drilled into the Santa Fe Formation of the Rio Grande Aquifer. The pumped water is disinfected and stored in two steel reservoirs that provides 1.5 million gallons of storage. We also provide sewer service customers in these areas. In 2006, our wastewater treatment facility was upgraded to a state-of-the-art membrane bio-reactor filtration facility with a capacity to treat 200,000 gallons influent per day. In Rio del Oro and Tome Vista, we serve over 1,000 residential customers and four schools.
